Hey, all. It’s Events Planning Intern Lauren again. I wanted to let you know about the next event coming up on the dt calendar. On July 29, we’ll be hosting our monthly workshop, and Melani Gordon of gWaveConsulting will be presenting on the topic: How to provide marketing campaign ROI/transparency in times of slowing economy & decreasing marketing budgets.
I’m excited about this event for 4 main reasons:
1. I like the topic. I’m not even sure where my money goes, so the dual prospects of:
a) telling someone else where their money went, and
b) somehow getting them more money than they gave me
are daunting at best, terrifying at worst, and really make me want to listen to this talk.
2. I like the presenter. Melani Gordon is cool. She has an incredible social and professional network, and experience ranging from real estate marketing to teaching e-commerce at the Fashion Institute. GWave matches Melani’s breadth of scope: their services range from SEO to social media marketing to marketing analytics.
3. I liked the last workshop. On our last installment, Dan Tentler of Aten Syndicate gave a presentation on “Hacking People”. I learned a lot of cool things from the workshop, including:
a) where I can park illegally for work every day and not get towed,
b) how to read body language and tell if I am dating a lying cad, and
c) Dan Tentler is a very funny man.
4. I like donuts. I ate a very good donut at this workshop.
This is a serious issue. There are all kinds of people out there. There are also all kinds of donuts. And not every donut is a good donut. Trust me, I know.
And, in all seriousness, the last workshop totally sold me on dt. The workshop happened to fall on my first full day of work. I arrived late and considerably frazzled, having just (re)discovered that San Diego freeways are the public works embodiment of Pure Evil. I came in, sat down, and everyone was so nice. Just a genuinely nice, funny, really intelligent group of people. Don’t get me wrong, I learned an incredible amount, but it was the best kind of learning: where everything flows so well and everybody bounces ideas off of each other so that you forget that you’re doing anything other than just enjoying yourself.
And, I know that this month’s workshop will be equally fabulous! I’m excited for Melani, so RSVP here!
You bring your body, we’ll bring the expert, and we can all ingest some coffee, knowledge, and very good donuts together.

Hello new intern. It’s me again. Apparently your planning skills leave something to be desired. Either that or your bosses generosity does. However, I am excited with the opportunity to present my own “I am going to make them pay” webinar. Audiences are raving, in fact, here is what they said about the last event:
1) “OMG. He has a Porsche?!?”
“Totally!!! But……you know what they say about guys with red sports cars….”
2) “Bill is soooo dreamy.”
“What?!?? Isn’t he like Muslim or something?”
3) It’s way, way better than that “What to do if a scorpion stings you on the ass seminar!”
4) I see how it is. Free donuts for a bunch of sleazy marketing jerks and no coffee for yours truly. Sniff sniff.
